Guess What I Got for Christmas!

I guess we knew it was inevitable for our little Evil Knievel to get an injury that would land him in the hospital at some point, but we didn't expect a broken leg before he reached 2 years old. He apparently climbed out of his bed in the night and fell the wrong way. He has climbed in-and-out of his bed many times, but has never tried to get out at night. When Curt went into his room, he was lying on the other side of the room. He calmed pretty easily and went to sleep. We knew the next morning that something could be either sprained or broken when he would not stand on his right foot. We immediately made an appointment with the pediatrician, who assured us that it was highly unlikely that he would have a broken bone at his age, but agreed to send us to the imaging center for x-rays. Once we got the results, we found out that he had a distal spiral fracture of his tibia, which is more commonly called, the toddler break. The pediatrician's office initially suggested that he might have to go to Children's Hospital for surgery so we were relieved to find out that a cast was all that was needed. He will have to wear it for about a month. He goes back January 4th for another cast and we are hoping it will be a smaller one.

Julia has been a great big sister and helped with his sponge bath and getting things for him.
