It's amazing the little things that kids pick up on. I have no idea how Julia knew what to do with the apron and oven mitts. I have never worn an apron around her and I can't think of anyone who has. She has seen us use oven mitts, but we were surprised when she went immediately to her kitchen once her mitts were on and started pretending that it was hot. It was so funny to see her touch the oven, then tell me to get back because it was hot, then carefully adjust the temperature. She really enjoys watching me cook so I'm sure I've done this same thing in front of her over and over.
